Others have a long plastic connection that goes into the reservoir. These differences are best seen when you take the bottom off the reservoir for cleaning. By the way, the proboscis of a butterfly is long enough to reach the sugar water in these feeders - and you don't have to worry about butterflies chasing the hummers away! Dex
