Hi Gail,
Here are directions (from memory): From Frederick take Rt. 15 north, a
few
miles before Emmitsburg take the exit for Rt. 140, at the stop sign go
straight onto Harney Rd. (don't go onto 140), continue on Harney Rd for
a few
miles (2-3?), you will see a sign that says "Mason-Dixon", continue
straight
on Harney Rd. beyond the for a few hundred yards, until you get to the
top of
the hill. At the top of the hill there is a dirt road that goes left,
take it
and you will see the pond below you on your right. A scope is necessary
and
late PM probably has the best light (the light was awful yesterday at 10
AM).
The dirt road might be private property and though I've never had
problems I
was once told I needed to ask permission.
I think the directions to this pond are also in Stauffer Miller's book
on
birding in Fred. Co. Yes, this is the pond that has been productive in
the
past, both Baird's and Buff-breasted Sandpiper have shown up here on
more than
one occasion.
Cheers,
Ottavio

Hi Ottavio -- Could you post the directions to this pond -- I seem to
have
misplaced them (if it's the pond that has been so active in previous
years...)
