Summary of birds seen April 23-24 (year-round residents are excluded
from this list):
The LEAST BITTERN is still being heard. On 4/23 it was vocalizing on
Richardson's Pond across from the steps going up to the upper North
Ridge Trail. On 4/24 it was clearly heard across from the blind on
Duncan's Pond (a very muddy trail leads to this blind right now).
Other birds seen: WHITE-EYED, RED-EYED and BLUE-HEADED VIREO, HERMIT
THRUSH, WOOD THRUSHES, BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHERS, TREE SWALLOWS, BARN
SWALLOWS, RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD, NORTHERN PARULAS, YELLOW-THROATED
WARBLERS, PINE AND PRAIRIE WARBLERS, COMMON YELLOWTHROAT AND LOUISIANA
WATERTHRUSH. A NELSON'S SHARP-TAILED SPARROW WAS SEEN IN THE BEACH
GRASS.
A female RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD was seen in my yard in Dunkirk, on
April 20, a male on April 22.
