Howdy all!
Another selfish request from the obsessive lister guy <grin>.
Just returned from a wonderful trip to S. Florida and the Dry
Tortugas (4/2-4/6). I was a little early for migration though.
Things were still pretty slow, but a lot of the breeding Florida
specialties were already there.
Ahhh. The dream year continues... This has already been the most
enjoyable birding year of my life. The fast-paced travel, seeing new
places, meeting many helpful birders, and seeing LOTS of birds has
been an adrenalin rush! I don't think I'd trade these experiences for
anything <insert huge, happy birder smile here>.
Assuming I'm very lucky and see all my target species in my
upcoming trips to Texas (4/17-4/26), Alaska (5/9-6/6), and
Minnesota/North Dakota (6/7-6/14), here's a preliminary list of birds
that may give me some problems that are possible here in the
mid-Atlantic:
-------------------
Ruffed Grouse (missed in MN in Feb; possible again in MN; Garrett
Co?)
Black Rail (Elliot Island? TX will also be a possibility)
Baird's Sandpiper (fall migrant here; slight possibility in TX)
Curlew Sandpiper (Bombay Hook?)
Ruff (Bombay Hook?)
Snowy Owl (missed in MN in Feb; December bird?)
Black-throated Blue Warbler (an Eastern migrant; missed in FL;
Garrett Co?)
Saltmarsh Sharp-tailed Sparrow (Pt Mahon?)
-------------------
Thanks for everybody's help!
Greg Miller,
422 and counting!
