Jane:
The Horned Grebes are changing their plummage a bit.  So,
individuals may be different in appearence.  The Eared Grebe that we
saw yesterday with the Horned Grebes was rather convincing in
appearence.  They are very adept at moving away from the viewer,
making it difficult to make a photograph on an overcast day to
record field mark details.
