Friend55: Do you have a copy of the MD Yellow Book? If not, I recommend you get one. Eared Grebe is a rare bird in St. Mary's County with no accepted records published as of the last revision of the yellow book! Last winter, Patty Craig found one just slightly upriver from where this bird was seen. My wife and I found another one on the Patuxent River at Greenwell State Park while searching for the Tufted Duck in St. Mary's County waters. Here's the URL for the Maryland Ornithological Society web page where you can order the yellow book. It's only $2.00! http://www2.ari.net/saunderf/mos/yellowbook.html -- Good Birding! ...and all this science, Tyler Bell I don't understand, It's mailto:bell@say.acnatsci.org just my job five days a week.
