Pine Knob Rd. White-Winged Crossbills
Dendroica (Dendroica@aol.com)

The red berries which Darius Ecker noted the Crossbills were eating (see his
earlier report), I believe, are Winterberries (Ilex verticillata) our native
deciduous holly. A little after noon, four White -Wings appeared at the same
place, i.e, the west end of the pines. Also, Red-Breasted Nuthatches and Pine
Siskins were around during the morning.
Thanks to all who alerted us to this Crossbill invasion.
