No fair, Rick, keeping us in suspense regarding the Ocean City part
of your trip! We must have missed you somehow or other on Sunday.
We were in and around the jetty and pond areas, and North Assateague
all day long and tallied 53 species for the day, starting with
wonderful looks at the water tower Peregrine Falcon, the incredible
looks at both eiders and the crowds of Harlequin Ducks at the inlet,
and the 3 Red Knots mixed in with the flock of Purple Sandpipers and
Ruddy Turnstones playing along the rocks of the north jetty.
We missed the adult Little Gull on Sunday but both Fran and I got
fairly good looks at the bird amidst the Bonaparte's Gulls on the
previous day.
All told we saw right around 100 species for the Friday through
Monday period of birding, despite missing the crossbills on
Assateague Island.
Okay, Rick, your turn...how did you and Nancy do?
Cheers,
Norm
