Fellas',
Russ Kovach and I attempted to locate the White-winged Crossbills
at Broad Creek this morning. We got there at about 0800 and stayed
until 0900. Unfortunately, we didn't find any White-wings but we did
turn up a flock of 3 adult male Red Crossbills. They were in the tops
of the white pines approximately 100 m behind the caretakers house.
The small flock quietly moved around the general area so they could be
tough to find unless you're listening closely for their calls.
A flock of 8 Pine Siskins flew over while we were following the
crossbills.
