Thought I'd forward this one on for someone to figure out:
I've spotted an odd looking goose- about the same size as the Canada's
it's hanging around with. Body coloration from base of neck back same
as a Canada; pinkish feet & bill. Head and neck are mostly white with
some black mottling on the upper part of the neck. Neck looks a little
stockier than a Canada and the bill looks a little shorter but it's
hard to tell. I've seen this bird here several times. Anyone got any
ideas? Note- in a straight line this is only about 3 miles from
Beaverdam Reservoir, Loudoun County.
Location: Large pond on western side of Ashburn Village Parkway, about
1/2 mile north of where it meets Rt. 640, near Dulles Airport, VA.
Date- 12/12/97, about 10:30 in the morning.
