As a novice birder, I am looking to upgrade my binoculars and to add a
spotting scope and tripod.  Does anyone have or know of a reliable source
for used equipment?  I just finished reviewing the Eagle Optics Buying
Guide and am overwhelmed by the prices and choices.

I am planning a trip to the Texas coast for 2 weeks beginning 25 Dec.;
any tips or suggestions are welcome.  We are starting in Houston and plan
to go down as far as Brownsville/Santa Ana.
