Imitating a Screech Owl I was able to coax the bird into view still in the same stand of Poplar and Gum Trees as it was yesterday at the "end" of Hoadley Road. The bird was also busily caching food in the tops of these trees. A good sign that it will over-winter in the area! After that I decided to try for odd migrants on the Susquehanna River at the Lapidum Boat Ramp. I was happy to find a lone (early-ish?) Common Merg diving on the Cecil County shoreline. Also present was a lone Winter Wren and a pair of Belted Kingfishers engaged in a territorial dispute over the water. Quite an interesting disply! Well I am off now to Perry Point (Cecil County) to check on the waterfowl.
