It seemed every bird was carrying food, fecal sac or feeding a fledgling. We were able to view every aspect of confirmation. The best surprise was a YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO flyover. A COOPER'S HAWK was also seen flying over a power line. They seem to be turning up regularly all over the county. A male SCARLET TANAGER carrying food was a treat. There was very little singing though. Maybe the brisk north winds got the birds thinking about migrating south for fall. It sure had me thinking of October! Only 2 species of sparrows burst that bubble though.
