Hot and humid but still a few birds to make it worth = the walk. Blackpolls seem to be everywhere. I must have had a dozen along = a mile-long walk through the woods. Both Northern and Louisiana Waterthrush= es along the creek at the beginning of the trail. The LOWAs are almost = certainly going to nest there as they have in the past (well, except for = last year when the creek was dry and I really wanted to tick them for the = atlas). Both Summer and Scarlet Tanagers. A lingering White-throated = Sparrow was near the museum. Tons of BG Gnatcatchers. A couple of BT Blues = and BT Greens. Unfortunately, I didn't hear any Hooded Warblers. They are = usually easy to find at the back end of the trail. Haven't heard any there = this year :(=20 The most frustrating bird was the Yellow-rumps. We could not find one of = these on Saturday for the SMAS birdathon to save our lives. Today, they = are everywhere in just about every imaginable plumage. Whatever. Hope the diversity is this good this coming Saturday for the May Count!
