Due to the rain we decided to stay closer to home, visiting Schoolhouse Pond in Upper Marlboro and Jug Bay. Several new year birds for me as well as a few county birds. Schoolhouse Pond 2 Blue-winged Teal 3 Gadwall 5 Caspian Tern 1 Eastern Kingbird (a year bird) 1 Yellow Warbler (") 1 Parula 1 White-eyed Vireo (calling) Jug Bay Caspian and Forster's Terns 1 Common Tern (year bird) 1 Least Bittern (")calling 2 Yellothroats (") 1 Marsh Wren 1 Palm Warbler 1 Broad-winged Hawk (year bird) Blue-gray Gnatchatchers and Yellow-rumped Warblers were every where. As well a good number of swallows. Osprey are already on there nests. Alas, no Red-legged Honeycreepers on this side of the bay either.
