Steve (and MDOsprey, in case anyone else is interested)--
    I'm sorry you didn't see the Kelpster, but cCongratulations
on not thinking those gulls were the KEGU!
    While I can't address what you might have been seeing, I can
tell you without a doubt that the KEGU does not have any black
on its bill and never has since being found by Patty Craig in St.
Mary's County. Patty actually has the most recent sighting that I
know of from Monday, March 10. Tyler and I have dipped on our two
March attempts (March 1 and 3). I'm curious about what others will
say about the other gulls--I know, in the past, there's been one
smaller (young) GBBG with funny-colored legs and black on its bill.
