Black Duck, N. Pintail, A. Wigeon, Ring-necked Duck, REDHEAD, Canvasback, Green-winged Teal, and GADWALL. Lots of Tree Swallows, E. Phoebe, a Red-shouldered Hawk carrying nestng material. Seneca: good #'s of Red-necked Grebes, both in the river and in Seneca Creek, Hooded and Common Mergansers flying upriver, more E. Phoebes. Sunday; various locales in eastern Montgomery County: LAKE NEEDWOOD: Horned and Pied-billed Grebes, Red-breasted Merganser, Wood Duck, Fox Sparrow, PINE WARBLER singing. ZION ROAD POND: Greater and Lesser Scaup in good numbers, side by side for comparison, Bufflehead, a single Ruddy Duck, lots of A. Wigeon, a pair of MUTE SWANS (new for this location, released captive-raised birds to decorate this otherwise lovely natural-looking pond by homeowners, I believe!). FARM POND on SUNDOWN RD.: on one side of the road, 3 Wilsons Snipe, Killdeer,on the other side, Hooded Mergansers, Ring-necked Ducks, etc. 3-4 AMERICAN WOODCOCKS displaying in field on Gregg Rd. on Saturday March 15, evening.
