Had two male American Goldfinches at the feeder last Saturday who appeared to have started their molt. Their foreheads showed the beginnings of their black spot coming in. Is this early? Haven't checked data from previous years yet, but will definitely do that now. Also, this morning saw 5-6 vultures on the ground next to the road near the Chain Bridge (canal side) on Clara Barton Parkway. At least 3 of them (may have been all of them) were Black Vultures.
