Pintail at Centennial about 11:15 this morning. I went to investigate, finally arriving at 1:30, when I found not only the male, but also a female, PLUS an immature male C. Goldeneye. All three birds are at the western end of the lake, in the so-called wildlife area. Best access is from Centennial lane. Park just north of the 2nd fire hydrant (don't block it!), and take the paved trail in. The birds were between the first two islands. This is an opportunity for a close, good look, if they hang around. Light was excellent, this may be a photo op for all you who rec'd a digital camera for the holidays and have had the courage to try and figure it out (unlike myself!). Neither species was present when I checked the length of the lake between 7:45 and 9:00. Just Ring-necks, Ruddies, and Hoodies. Brighton Dam/Triadelphia was likewise devoid of much interest. Forty-one Ring-necks, 6 Black Ducks, 2 Hoddies. The C. Mergs and gulls must have been elsewhere. At 11:20 noted my year Fish Crow from my sure-fire spot, near Chatham Mall on rt. 40. One was calling from the wire at rt. 40 and Chatham Rd. A nice flock of Bluebirds graced my cul de sac, Dunloggin Ct., at 11:30. Thanks Kevin!
