In Talbot Co. on Manadier Rd. we had a nice mixed flock feeding on the side of the road which included Purple Finch, (3) White-crowned Sparrows, and a Hermit Thrush. At the Talbot Co. Landfill we had a flock of 25 Horned Larks fly over. In Caroline Co. the birding was sparse with small flocks of four to five Horned Larks in the fields around Federalsburg. In Dorchester Co. the Hurlock sewage ponds had a large flock of Tundra Swan (approx. 150) plus the normal waterfowl. Plus nice flocks of Horned Larks and Am. Pipits. On Petersburg Rd. South of the sewage ponds we observed a flock of 8 Horned Lark and 1 Lapland Longspur feeding on the road. We got within five feet of the Longspur. It was the best look I've ever had at these elusive birds.
