Many were sitting on rocks and about ten were on the huge utility towers. Undoubtedly there were more eagles in the vicinity, but we quit at 35! They should still be there for the delectation of eagle watchers this weekend. Gulls were disappointing, with rather few about -- the usual Herring, great Black-backed, and Ring-billed. There were half a dozen BONAPARTE'S GULL flying around just above the water discharges, very close to the viewing area. Good birding. Mike and Joy Bowen Bethesda P.S. For eagle enthusiasts who may not have heard, there is a Golden Eagle at Bombay Hook NWR in Delaware. Seen by us on Wednesday - a juvenile. D.H.
