Here are the results for the big Sit from Montgomery County. Participants: Clive Harris, Tom Marko, Cynthia and Tony Meade, Janet Millenson Team Name: The Montgomery County Sitting Ducks Contact: Rick Sussman 17917 Ashton Club Way Ashton,MD 20861 301-774-1185 Location: Black Hill Regional Park, Germantown, MD Habitat: A large man-made lake (reservoir), surrounded by deciduous wooded hills, weedy fields, in a growing area of suburbia. The county's premier waterfowl spot throughout the winter months. Weather conditions: Mostly overcast, with light drizzle in mid-morning, follwed by cloudy conditions but bright and warmer by afternoon; little to no winds, temps 60-65. Time spent: 7AM-1PM (7-10 by myself, rest of group joined me after 10). Golden Bird award: Pronatura Veracruz (River of Raptors project, Vera Cruz Mexico) Notes: Our first Big Sit was a successful one, though I would like more participants next year. A bit of tweaking of the circle could produce a count in the mid 50's, I think.
