So naturally the very first bird he saw today was an immature CONNECTICUT WARBLER in the Maintenance Yard, at about 7 a.m. John Hubble was there to enjoy the brief but definitive looks, before the bird characteristically flew off into the wood edge, not to reappear. Later at the Ridge, he tallied a moderate flight -- Warblers included Balck-throated Green (2), Black-and-White (1), Bay-breasted (1), Chestnut-sided (3), Magnolia (10), Parula (1), Redstart (8), Common Yellowthroat (20), plus Nashville and Blackpoll seen by Dan Eberly. Vireos included Red-eyed (12), and White-eyed and Yellow-throated, one each. Other birds of note -- a big influx of Brown Thrashers (12), House Wrens (12), plus Swainson's Thrush (2-3), Scarlet Tanager (2), Ruby-Crowned Kinglet (1), and a few Pewees and Phoebes. Also, a Greater Yellowlegs overhead calling.
