Note: this is not Elk Neck State Park. To get to Elk Neck State Forest, turn south at the Route 40 and Route 272 light above North East. Just after leaving North East, take a left on Irishtown Road (across from the VFW canons). Travel about 2 miles until you get to the Elk Neck State Forest entrance If you drive too fast you'll miss it. Take a left into the forest. Just after the left into the forest, turn left into the parking lot. There will be a large maintenance building there. This is an excellent area for the forest birds that can be very seclusive; Worm-eating Warblers, Red-eyed Vireo, Ovenbirds, Black and White Warblers, Redstarts and Scarlet Tanagers are in abundance. Hooded Warblers nest there. Meeting Place: Elk Neck State Forest - the parking lot at the entrance, just off Irishtown Road. Time: 7:00 am (half day). Suggested equipment: insect repellent (it's tick season), walking shoes. Conveniences: none. Admission: none. Questions or directions: call Parke at 410-506-3874 day or 410-287-6037 evening. Email is pjohn@wlgore.com. Thanks - Parke. ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
