McHenry (1/2) MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Substituting for Jim Peters, I led ten birders into the wetland at Ft. McHenry today (1/2) during the BBC's First Wednesday bird survey. We found twenty-five species in three hours (Steve Sanford and I started a little early). The first year female NORTHERN PARULA put on a great show: coming within five feet of some birders. The Parula has been seen since December 29. The birds: Double-crested Cormorant, Canada Goose, Gadwall, Mallard, Bufflehead, Cooper's Hawk, Ring-billed Gull, Herring Gull, Great Black-backed Gull, Rock Dove, Mourning Dove, American Crow, Carolina Wren, Northern Mockingbird, European Starling, NORTHERN PARULA, Song Sparrow, Swamp Sparrow, White-throated Sparrow, Dark-eyed Junco, Red-winged Blackbird, House Finch, American Goldfinch, House Sparrow. It was a very nice morning with great company. Thank you for joining us.
