There were vistors to the hawk watch from Columbia MD, and Dave Holmes leading a group from Baltimore. The raptor flight was considerably slower than yesterday ( will post totals later, as counters were still at work when I left ), but still had a steady flight of SHARP-SHINNED HAWKS coming through, with some COOPERS for good comparison. An adult pair of BALD EAGLES swooped low through the clearing for a wonderful view. Falcons present were KESTREL and PEREGRINE. It was a 7 woodpecker day, with great flythrough AND perched views of RED-HEADED, YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER and PILEATED. An EASTERN MEADOWLARK perched obligingly for all to see. Both KINGLETS were present, as well as PURPLE FINCH, PALM and YELLOW-RUMP WARBLER. BLUE-HEADED VIREO were seen yesterday, and again today. There was also a flyover of LESSER-SCAUP.
