For those of you who are not familiar with this little gem, it starts on Papermill Road in Cockeysville and is now complete all the way to York, Pa. (Rails to Trails project). Very good birding all the way as it follows the Gunpowder and its tribs for the whole way through Md. This AM had two different least flycatchers, one visual just south of Blue Mount Rd at a bridge over the Gunpowder. Also an excellent look at a Kentucky W. about a half mile north of Weisburg Rd. Tons of usual things like acadian, great crested and a good look at two redstart males having a 'disagreement' over where the territories meet. This trail is also probably second only to C&O for Orioles per square foot. Question: Has anybody ever seen two snapping turtles fight? Saw it when I got home in the lake in front of our house in N. Carroll Co. Nasty battle to say the least. By the way, this little lake has had a female bufflehead in it since a week before the count and is still there. Bob Ringler says that's close to a record for Carroll. Yesterday had a Blue-winged Teal, but not there today.
