Shireen, To add to what other have already mentioned, here's what The Encyclopedia of North American Birds (John K. Terres) has to say about Yellow-throated Warblers: "......along s. Atlantic coastal plain, dwells in ancient live oaks draped with Spanish moss, typical of old plantation home grounds of South; others in southern pine forests and cypress swamps; a western race, or subspecies, called the sycamore warbler, summers in Mississippi Valley north to Wisc.; lives much in bottomland sycamores along streams, also about orchards, shade trees and lawns of towns of valleys ...." From the Maryland Breeding Bird Atlas: "The Yellow-throated Warbler is found in swamps and pine woods, especially loblolly pines more than 25 ft. (7.6 m) tall (Robbins 1950) in the southern and eastern part of the state, and locally in tall sycamores along rivers in the north and western parts of Maryland." My observations of the very common Yellow-throated Warblers at Flag Ponds Park in Calvert County are that they are most often seen where most of the pines are growing. //////// Arlene Ripley | || Calvert County, MD | 0 || aripley@nestbox.com | || http://www.nestbox.com || ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
