As I was shaking my head in amazement, wondering who would do something so bizarre, I had a thought; some mad scientist may be trying to scrape off enough genetic material to uh, clone the bird. Hmmm... wonder what the listing rules are for such cases. :-) But seriously, it's so sad to hear that. I would hope that the people who see the tremendous value in such specimens would not stoop so low as to steal it. That leaves the other possibility, that this bird was stolen by a bunch of clueless punks who don't understand what this bird symbolizes.
