MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Hi Folks! I made the trek to Dorchester for the Sandhill Crane. It was again on the lawn at 1845 Hooper's I. Rd.. Further down the island there wer about 8 Brown Pelicans on the fishing nets in the Bay and one in the marina. As Marshall noted, the breeding Willets appeared to have departed. The only one I saw was at Golden Hill. A trip down Elliot's I. Rd. was productive as usual. The pond on the right as you start into the marsh had the best shorebirds: 8 Greater Yellowlegs, 4 Lesser Yellowlegs, 1 Least Sandpiper, 14 Short-billed (griseus) Dowitchers and 2 Long-billed Dowitchers. 2 Common Moorhen were in the same spot. A few miles further south, where the road does the hard right turn to the Fishing Bay side, 8 Saltmarsh Sharptailed Sparrows were spished up. I was hoping to get photos of juvenile plumage birds, but all I saw were adults. There were a few juvenile Seaside Sparrows. Perhaps they are not out of the nest yet. I did see adults carrying bugs. The highlight of the day was a female MYRTLE WARBLER! Except for Garrett County, this is the first I have ever seen in Maryland in Summer. It looked healthy and was fly-catching on one of the pine islands along the road. I wandered my way home through Caroline and a bit of Queen Anne's but did not find any good puddles for shorebirds. Good Birding!
