I understand that Black Hills Reservoir has not been reliable recently (it has been 6 years since I saw them there, I think). In any event, back in early June Matt Hafner found some in Montgomery County. Jim Stasz and I were at the location on Sunday (after seeing the shrikes) and the birds were vocal and obvious. I'm sure Matt doesn't mind me sharing the location, and congratulations to him for finding these birds, which probably have recently fledged young. DeLorme Map #56 C3: From Rte. 97 S go west on Damascus Rd. (Rte. 650) to an immediate left on Sundown Rd.. Follow Sundown Rd. towards Laytonsville, noting Zion Rd. on your left. After going through some woods you will cross a creek crossing. Park at the far end of the guardrail and look back among the dead snags on the north side of the road behind you. Also at least one Willow Flycatcher at this location.
