Perhaps the biggest surprise was finding an Eastern Phoebe fluttering around inside the garage this morning (the doors were opened early). It may have been searching for food among the spider webs. Then a single Fox Sparrow was observed under the feeder containing sunflower chips. All of the millet is buried under more than a foot of snow, so the ground feeders are having the hardest time searching for food. Five Eastern Bluebirds don't go far from the hanging cake of peanut suet and were even eating the sunflower chips most of the day. There were two spots in the snow where the impression of spread wings remained -- the sharpie was probably on the prowl this morning as there were no birds in the yard for a good half hour. A lovely day after the storm but sore and tired muscles tonight reflect the work it took to clear 300 feet of driveway. ////// Arlene Ripley | || Calvert County, MD | 0 || aripley@nestbox.com | || http://www.nestbox.com || ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ================================================================================================================================================
