Haven't had any siskins here in Dunkirk, Calvert County, since early November but for the past month I have had daily from one to four Purple Finches and two Red-breasted Nuthatches. Eastern Bluebirds (five) have returned to my yard, as they always do when the weather gets bad, and are feeding from the peanut suet feeder and the shelled peanut feeder. The cold has also brought less desirable birds to the feeders such as a dozen cowbirds and a mixed flock of grackles, starlings and Red-winged Blackbirds. There are at least 65 American Goldfinches at the thistle feeders, so I supposed there could be a siskin in there that I'm not noticing. No Fox Sparrows yet and very few juncos. ////// Arlene Ripley | || Calvert County, MD | 0 || aripley@nestbox.com | || http://www.nestbox.com || ================================================================= To unsubscribe send a message to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ==========================================================================================================================================
